The Joker is taking over Gotham! A new teaser for Joker: Folie à Deux shows Joaquin Phoenix channeling the unhinged madness of Arthur Fleck.
The marketing for Joker: Folie à Deux is finally ramping up. However, most of the focus of the footage has been on Arthur Fleck’s relationship with Harley Quinn (or, Lee) in Arkham Asylum. This newest teaser changes that, bringing the audience to the streets of Gotham and allowing Joaquin Phoenix to flex his acting muscles by bringing back the madness that made the first movie such a smash hit at the box office.
This is the clearest look fans have gotten yet at the court scenes in Joker: Folie à Deux. Though, given how Arthur Fleck is acting in them, it’s likely they’re just more hallucinations. Joaquin Phoenix also gets the chance to bring his iconic Joker laugh to the Gotham public, uncontrollably chortling as the police escort him (presumably) to his trial.
Mad Love Takes Over Gotham
More footage of Arthur Fleck’s trial has been shown off outside of this teaser. This includes a separate sneak peek, along with a handful of pictures that show Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga standing in the spotlight. It’s clear that this site will be the epicenter of a musical number. However, given how many musical numbers Joker: Folie à Deux is set to have, it’s impossible to nail down if it’s been shown off prior to these photos.
Joker: Folie à Deux has a large mountain to climb with audiences. While the first film grossed a billion at the box office, superhero fatigue has become a prevailing narrative across the net. This isn’t even to mention the project’s massive budget, an inflation caused not-in-small part through Joaquin Phoenix’s payday to return as Arthur Fleck.
Joker: Folie à Deux is set to hit theaters on October 4, 2024. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the sequel and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
