Could David Corenswet be donning the black Superman suit? The Superman star gives a nod to one of the character’s most iconic costumes in a new set of photos.
One of the most exciting moments from Henry Cavill’s tenure as Superman was when he donned the black suit, bringing one of the character’s most iconic outfits to the silver screen. With David Corenswet now wrapping up his first film in the DC Universe as the Man of Steel, there’s already been some speculation of whether he could get his own version of the suit in the form of an easter egg or future storyline.
While it doesn’t seem that David Corenswet will be wearing the costume in Superman, he does at least seem to be aware of the iconic suit. In recent photos of Corenswet with the parents of co-star María Gabriela de Faría, he’s seen wearing a shirt that has the logo of the black suit on the chest. In fact, the shirt seems to be coming from the stunt department of the DC Universe film!
Could David Corenswet Wear Superman’s Black Suit?
Even though David Corenswet’s shirt appears to be an official piece of merch given to the crew of Superman, it’s not likely he’ll be donning the black suit on the silver screen anytime soon. The film’s villain is already donning a black and silver suit. Giving Corenswet his own version to fight the character, even if he does take major damage, likely would just end up looking visually messy.
David Corenswet’s costume also seems to be taking an entirely different direction than the black suit. Set photos have revealed that his Superman suit will have bright, bold colors, especially when compared to Henry Cavill’s take on the iconic character. So while the outfit may be on James Gunn’s mind for the future, it’s likely not happening anytime soon.
Superman is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 11, 2025. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
